SL fight back after 188-run opening stand

That's stumps on day one. Commendable fightback from the hosts after they were smashed around in the first session. Dhawan and Rahul dazzled with the bat, eventually putting on a massive 188-run stand for the opening wicket. Dhawan hit his second century on the tour, whereas Rahul made it seven fifties in a row, although the latter threw his wicket away while approaching a ton himself.
It was Sri Lanka's spinners who led the fightback. Not given the ball until the 39th over, Pushpakumara struck in his first over to finally end the opening partnership. He was relentlessly accurate throughout and bought wickets with his persistence. Meanwhile, Sandakan, although not as accurate, brought an X-factor with him and troubled a few batsmen with his variation.
